Stanford Sets up Center for Research in chinese Culture in Taiwan.
Nivison Arrives Today to Preside over Establishment.

[Central News Agency] Dr. Nivison – former director of Stanford University’s Asian languages department will come to Taipei from America on the 26th to establish Stanford’s Chinese Cultural Research Center.

This Chinese Cultural Research Center is Stanford’s fifth international campus. The other campuses are located in Stuttgart, West Germany; Tours, France; Florence, Italy; and Tokyo, Japan.

The Chinese Cultural Research Center is temporarily located on the campus of National Taiwan University, and has already invited NTU professor Dong Tonghe as  consultant and Chin K’ai, Kao Gung-Yi as administrators of the center.  

Dr. Nivison has visited Taipei this spring accompanied by Stanford professors Dr. Brooke and Dr. James Liu Tzu-Jien, and the decision was made to set up a research center in Taipei.

Eleven U.S. students will come to Taipei in September to conduct research for one year (the 1962-63 academic year). These will be regular students of Stanford University.

The Chinese Cultural Research Center in Taipei is a central part of Stanford. The center’s academic curriculum is the same as that of Stanford’s. The goal of establishing the center is to enable students to acquire direct Chinese cultural experiences.

史大在臺設研習所研究中國文化
倪文遜今來臺主持

[中央社訊] 　前任美國史丹福大學亞洲語言學系主任倪文遜博士，將於廿六日從美國來到臺北，在臺灣設立一所史丹福大學中國文化研習所。

這所中國文化研習所是史丹福大學在國外的第五個校區，另外四個校區是在西德的斯，圖加特法國的都爾，義大利的佛羅稜斯和日本的東京。

中國文化研習所的所址，現暫設於中國國立臺灣大學校區內，已聘請臺灣大學教授董同龢為顧問，秦凱、高恭億為職員。

倪文遜博士今年春天曾和史丹福大學的勃魯克博士、劉子健博士同來臺北，決定了在臺北設立一所研習所。

十一位美國學生美國學生將於九月從美國來到臺北，在中國文化研習所做一年研究（一九六二～六三學年），他們將是史丹福大學的正式學生。

設在臺北的中國文化研習所是史丹福大學的一個主要部分，它的學程和史丹福大學一樣。這個研習所設立的目的，是在使學生們在中國得到直接的經驗。
